What Situations Require Emergency Care?
If you believe your pet is sick, hurt, or in distress, we’re here to provide expert care. Our emergency vets are prepared to diagnose and treat urgent cases, including severely injured or ill pets. Common emergency cases we see include:
- Animal bites and attacks
- Bleeding from mouth, nose, ears, or anus
- Blood transfusions
- Fractured bones or severe lameness
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Ingestion of medications, poisons, or objects
- Snakebite envenomation
- Seizures and/or staggering
- Severe vomiting & diarrhea
- Unresponsiveness
- Wobbliness, weakness, unsteady on 4 feet
- Inability to urinate or pass feces, or pain associated with urinating or passing feces
- Injuries to the eye(s)
- Heat stress or heatstroke
- Toxin exposure
- Coughing, gagging, or retching
- Heart disease
- Choking, rapid or shallow breathing, labored breathing, pale or grey gum color.
- Not eating or drinking for more than 24 hours
- Difficulties while giving birth
What to Do in an Emergency

Call Ahead
Please consider contacting our hospital in advance to confirm availability for treating your pet. If it is beyond our business hours or we do not have the capacity, we will refer you to another emergency animal hospital in the area.
Get to Our Office Right Away
Upon your arrival at the clinic, please come inside to check-in. Inform the receptionist of your pet's symptoms so we can advise you of wait times.
Complete Our Patient Admission Form
You can complete our patient admission form online, or after you have checked in at the clinic.
