Expert Diagnostic Imaging in Longmont
Our team of veterinarians has incorporated digital radiology into our diagnostic capabilities, leading to more immediate and effective treatment of medical issues seen in pets.
Images captured in radiographs (digital X-rays) and ultrasound scans provide detailed insight into the internal health of pets and allow our veterinarians to share this vital information with specialists and other professionals in a time-efficient manner.
While many conditions show up clearly using diagnostic imaging, some signs of disease can be subtle, requiring the expertise of a specialist to spot and interpret them adequately.
At Emergency Pet Clinic of Longmont, we have a radiologist who helps interpret all imaging, including X-rays and diagnostic tests, to accurately identify the cause of your pet's symptoms and ensure the best possible care.
Radiographs (Digital X-rays)
Radiographs are digital X-rays that allow veterinary professionals to evaluate the health of your pet's bones and organs. They help us diagnose a diverse range of conditions, such as bladder stones, broken bones, chronic arthritis, spinal cord diseases, certain types of tumors, and more.
Taking digital X-rays is painless, safe, and completely non-invasive. This procedure uses only very low doses of radiation. Since the level of radiation exposure needed to produce radiographs is very low, even pregnant females and young pets can undergo radiography.
Ultrasound Imaging
Ultrasound technology uses high-frequency sound waves to produce a moving image of your pets internal organs and circulatory system. This technology allows for insight into the functioning of your pet's heart and internal organs, and allow us to spot cysts, tumors and blockages that might otherwise go undetected.
Through the use of ultrasound, we can distinguish soft tissue masses from foreign bodies or fluid - a task we might find challenging or impossible to accomplish with a digital x-ray. The sound waves the ultrasound generates are not harmful or painful to your pets.
